cylinder identifycation

I have a 1996 Evinrude 150 HP V6 outboard. There are great many numbers embossed on the cylinder heads, how do I determine the correct cylinder head number. My manual does not offer such information. Thank you.

Welcome!<br />the number of the head is cast in...raised numbers would be the head numbers...should be 6 digit numbers and each head will be only 1 number off..find those and list'em.

Thank you for the information. My question was asked, albeit not clearly, to determine cylinder numbers not the part number for the head. Thus in order to determine the firing order of the cylinders, one must know the number the manufacturer has assigned to each of the six cylinders. Thank you

Rollin.....looking at the back of the engine...the starboard side (right) is odd numbered...1-3-5, top to bottom.<br /><br />Port side is even...2-4-6...top to bottom.

And the cylinder closest to the flywheel is #1.<br />I think OBJ told me that quite while back.I just had never looked at it that way.<br /><br />DHP
