Re: D i w

ok, actually i cut a small slit in the shrink wrap and went inside, the deck and everything inside is clean. i mean nice. the seats are not weather beaten, they are leather. the only thing that i see that i can bring up is the teak wood on the swim platform and the door to the galley, the engine has been maintenanced since he got the boat by a mechanic. once i was done i sealed the slit up that i cut in there. i want to be able to go all over with it. salt/fresh water

Welcome to Iboats m8..

First off..I doubt you have leather seats..probably vinyl covers..

Next..I would Inspect/change the drive gear lube ( If its a cobra drive then please research a bit more on how to change the lube..I recall its a bit different process ). Look for water coming out first off in the lube.

Id change the impeller..change the lube..change the oil..Stable the fuel..winterize freash water system if it has it. winterize the block.

Teak is EZ..Post in the Resto forum for that ;) ( good winter project ).

Loading and unloading..start like stated above..just in and out with No to calm winds on the ramp..get used to it.

As also stated above .. not just safty equipt..but make sure your blowers are working and how to pull up to a fuel docking procedure..

YD.

welcome to i boats and the wonderful world of boating :)

i see you took a safe boating course....is that the one you need for a boating licence?....

if it was just a 20 question course....i highly suggest you search out a power-squadron class room course.

a 23 dancer is a lot of boat for a first time owner but do able.

my best advice would be to stay off the open ocean for a while till you get better at boating. stick to lakes and rivers with a current...this will help you a lot.

read here lots ....this place is not called boat university for nothing.

just a short thing to allways remember.
the captain of the boat is responcible for every life on board the boat.
this means you will have to take control of the people in the boat....set rules....make sure everyone knows what to do in an emergency situation.
i allways have a short safety meeting with new people on board about moving around the boat while underway....the location of all the safety equipment....drinking on board.....ect.

good luck...and have fun

i have a couple questions about bottom painting your boat. is it absolutely necessary, if it is done once does it have to absolutely be redone. what is the best method of doing it , any info you have about this subject would be greatly appreciated
