I want to get an air powered DA sander to color sand the boat. I'm not looking to spend a fortune, but would like a solid tool.

Any recommendations on a particular one or what I should be looking for?

I guess that's relative.. If you're looking to do some color sanding (wet) I have both of the sanders from Quick Cut; Great sanders, but price is around $500 and the paper is roughly a buck a disk.. However, results are impressive..

I have always used the dynabrade brand but they are expensive but last forever with lots of abuse. Keep in mind that their are 2 different orbit sizes 3/16 and 3/32's. the 3/16 will give you a faster cut and the 3/32 will be a finer cut for a more smother surface especially if your sanding/buffing aluminum or metal when your using the finer paper sizes past 120 grit to mic sizes.

I'm not looking to spend $500, but I am looking to be a step above harbor freight on this one.

This will primarily be used on the boat so I think I will look into a 3/32" orbit size.

Heard good things about dynabrade and can be had for not too bad of a price.
