I grew up with a guy that had your sense of humor. He made everyone smile even if they were made and only smiled for a second.
As I rapidly approach 60 I have more time to think and hopefully am getting better at said thinking.
First off, about 20 years ago I realized my dad was really funny so that rubbed off on me without realizing it.
I also grew up with a weekly menu of M*A*S*H, WKRP, Hee Haw with others can't remember just now. Had a6th grade teacher who would play us Bill Cosby and Bob Newhart albums at lunch time. In respect to realizing my dad was really funny, about the same time I realized he, both in personality and in physical appearance, is very similar to Hawkeye, aka Alan Alda and last ten years ot so average realized how wickedly intelligent they both are.
Last peice of the puzzle, actually first because I realized this a long time ago is that between K thru 12 I went to 13 different schools with about half those coming after the school year had started so was always that odd new kid. I was not a tough guy tho there were the requisite number of fights but I guess I learned early on that jokes was the path of least resistance to most of the bullies. And as I got into high school selling weed made people (and two teachers) like me. Very effective combination.
The other thing my father gave me was a modicum of intelligence, and he and mom gave me world travels and with all the schools in diff parts of this country I'm able to see the world around me in a manner that many people simply cannot understand which I beleive strongly has led us to where we're are now in the world.
Sorry, went deep. Have a house showing in two hours so gotta get to cleaning....
