Well I got news for you. You do not prop a boat because you like how fast it goes at 3000 rpm. You prop it so the engine can run in the specified rpm range at WOT. What was the WOT with the old prop?

Right on Jimmbo, precise words. Surely OP has not tached previously the beaten prop on a wot run as usually loaded. While both prop powers the combo at 3 K through the lake, the props are doing their homework right. Wot rpm is all, achieved speed is secondary.

You need 2 prop wot tests on calm flat water cond as usually loaded, stay with the prop that makes the engine to rev middle to max wot rpm range, report both findings. Can go for a better fine tune prop maximization from there..

Happy Boating
