Re: Dang thieves !!
Give her a break....she can't compete with the squirrels.
She doesn't have to.
The squirrels die of lead poisoning - I think.
See the one in the background?
And a few more just out of the frame.
Those buggers eat my house and invade my attic.
Not many more deer around.
Up until 5 years ago, there were 15 in the yard every night.
Probably 100 within a half mile of the house.
Then they all disappeared. Coyotes, wolves, disease?
Not many hunters right here, never heard a shot the last 2 years.
Had a big doe and her fawn in December. Then another young one came in, and the doe disappeared.
As soon as the snow is gone, the deer will go back to being nocturnal.
I have a deck, about 3 feet off the ground, pretty much blocked in on 3 sides with snow.
I have 5 mourning doves living under there.
They use the rabbit trails to enter and exit.
Strange.
But the brutal cold and wind must have been too much for them, and they sought out shelter, on the ground level.
Hard to believe they would expose themselves to the threat of wild mink and wild cats.
