The boot, in boating nomenclature, "that rubber thing between the transom and the out drive that keeps water from coming in from the stern."

I notice some cracks and little tares in it. Do I have to replace the entire thing or is there goop that can fill in those offending places and what is the thing really called if I have to order one.

They are called drive shaft or u joint bellows & must be replaced....;)

rats. I better go buy a manual.

Working on a 1977 Crestliner Nordsman II with a straight six 165 hp GM for OMC. I/O. :D

Nope can't throw no goop on it. But the good news is i did mine without removing the drive.

Use the best marine selacone you can get your hands on. I know i spell badly.
