Das Boot

[1946Zephyr]

Das Boot, are the words I found on the transome, when I bought this jewel. This is my $100 investment. It had a 1964 Johnson 40 on it, but it was just a plain old RD-26 (no electric start) so I put this 1958 Lark on it and it looks like a nice match. This is one of the three Larks that I picked up last Fall and ended up being the nicest one of the three.

Must have been a Deutschlander that owned it before. American translation is "The Boat".

German submarine movie by that title as well...Zeph you gonna put a prop on it or does even require one as High Trim's is lacking as well?

They come like that, what looks like a prop shaft is actually a high powered SS jet.

Actually mine came with a nice bronze prop so am polishing it.

that looks like one of those propless drives......very stealthy and innovative for the era.

Yea, i actually have a prop for it, in the shed. I'm going to re-seal the lower unit, and put a new water pump in it, so I figured I would wait before I put the prop on.

Chris, your old Lark there looks like it wouldn't take much to make it look nice. Cavitation plate and all still looks good too. I bet yours is a low hours motor too.

I hear you can get higher rpms if you leave the prop off!!!!!

Yea, it's really fun running them with the lower unit off. Good and loud. LOL
