Dashboard Suggestions?

I've been rebuilding my Starcraft and I haven't decided how to build a new custom dash and was looking for some suggestions. I have tossed around plywood, either painted (texture paint) or vinyl covered, or building it out of Aluminum.

Which way would you go?

You would build the whole console out of plexiglass?

no, just the control center with the guages, helm.

I just replaced my consoles(walk through center) on my '79 Starcraft supersport. The original dashes were made of plywood and covered with vinyl. Yuck! Anyway I used the old consoles as templates and replaced them with solid birch. Stained with a dark walnut stain and coated each with 4 coats of spar urethane. They came out absolutely gorgeous. I thought it would add a nice touch to the boat considering that the old girl already has a fake wood vinyl panels lining each side.

you can up load to a free service like photobucket.com then you choose the pictures you want( clik the little box at the bottom left of the picture) scrool to the bottom of the page, clik generate html, it will take you to the next page, scroll down to thumb nails clik on that and copy, then insert it into your post.

also if you are planing on posting pictures, you can use the Blue post reply or the go advanced, manage attachments, there you can upload , directly from your computer. besure you pictures have been resized to fit the format.

I used a pice of abs plastic the has a wrinkle texture on the face. I cut it with my circular saw and then ran around the edges with a da.

I've been trying to get some pics of my phone to post but I can't just plug in and down load them to my mac. So I'm trying to read the card through the router of a network printer/sacnner etc.

Sounds like some good ideas, I would definitely like to see some pics of rebuild dash's I think that would really give me a head start on it!

I used plywood template covered with marine vinyl. I really like the way it looks. It's cheap, and it's easy to do. It's also easy to replace them if you need.
