My Starcraft American 18's (1979) dashboard and steeringwheel look a bit outdated and I d like to replace it.

Does anyone have an idea, where to find such items?

thanks and enjoy boating!

Re: Dashboard

steering wheels can be found at any marine dealer, or on fleebay...one of our members (Kainon) has adapted a beautiful Nardi wood wheel from a FIAT 124 sypder. as far as dash, what are you wanting to replace? just refacing your dash panel with some nice veneer plus some new gauges (save the old ones to sell to somone who wants original) will do wonders....Faria, telefix and others sell comlete kits, also commonly avail at any marine dealer.

try defender, wholesale marine, or our Esteemed sponsor iboats.

thanks, the Fiat Wheel didn't so good in the sun, my fault, I should've kept it covered, WAY better than the PLastic POS I have now which has NO reinforcment in it, and in the SUN it's soft as Rubber ( but looks great after 3 years in the sun !!! )

PS.. Check out Great Lakes Skipper ( where I got my belly tank and Gauge Set ) http://www.greatlakesskipper.com

Popey, just noticed your location. if you have issues with customs duties, you might want to find a used wheel on fleebay or from a boat being parted out.

Popey, had another thought on your dash. the dash itself is pretty simple on most of these......if you found a nice piece of wood and pulled your old one out for a pattern, any competent woodworker would enjoy making one....advertise on your local CL or equivalent. this is the sort of thing a hobbyist woodworker could do that would bring them a few $, and you could promise em portfolio pix and/or a trip fishing. i've found some really lovely wood on fleebay for cheap...flamed, burls, spalted, the works.

here's a site with good pix of various exotic woods:

imagine a dash made from Brazilian rosewood, or wenge, or Madagascar rosewood......ooh la la
