As you know if you have read my posts about a GPS for my truck, I had a lousy P.O.J. for a while and returned it for refund.

Now I have a Garmin 276C, with auto navigation accessory.

That leaves me with stuff I can't use any more: a 2GB Compact Flash Card and a reader/programmer for several types of flash memory cards, not including the USB data card that the Garmin 276C uses.

I understand that the Garmin StreetPilot series use Compact Flash Cards, as well as a bunch of other products, like DigiCams, etc.

I would like to recover some of the bux I have in the CF card and reader and acquire some back-up USB card memory for my 276C.

Does anyone know how to offer a swap on eBay? Any other suggestions?

Re: Data cards

Try the Thrifties. :) Sorry, could not resist.

I guess you could email all the sellers that are selling the items you want, and propose the swap.
But can't imagine you will get many takers, as they are selling, and probably not interested unless they can get it for dirt cheap.

Also, many people will not buy used memory cards.

Best bet would probably be to sell it on ebay.
Maybe another member here will sell it for you, if you don't want to get involved with selling on ebay.

CF card prices are dropping, and they are not used in most of the new cameras, etc. I had a few small cf cards that would not sell, so I offered them to the guy that bought my used camera, for $20.
But there should be some demand for a 2 gb card though.

Re: Data cards

Thanks, Roscoe.

Actually, I haven't used this 2GB CF card. It is still in the package, and it is SanDisk, a respected brand.

I think I will try your idea about emailing sellers.

The Thrifties and Want Ads are for marine type items. I wouldn't expect to get any hits there.

Re: Data cards

CF cards are also rated by speed...if it is a high speed card (40X or higher) then it is worth more. I bet you could recover most of your $$$ if you sell it outright on ebay.

Just for information purpose :) what does a new sealed in package 2 gb CF card go for? It would also work as a back up device for a computer.

Bob

Re: Data cards

I have no idea about the speed, Bob. There is nothing about speed on the package.

I bought it on eBay for $176 after getting outbid on several others. Most go for closer to $200.
