Finally got a chance to get my boat back on the water after fixing a problem with my motor (thanks to the help I got here). Just a little shakedown run to see how the motor performed.

I went to a nearby lake that's always crowded. Even on weekdays, I've been on the lake and there's still quite a few boats. But not yesterday! I guess after Labor Day a lot of people decide the summer's over, time to put the boat away.

Everything came together to make it the best conditions for boating I've seen so far. The lake nearly empty. Perfect weather-- temps in the low 90s, not a cloud in the sky. No wind whatsoever-- the water was glass! I'd seen the lake like that one time before, when I went out early one morning to fish, but it was freezing that morning. Going fast is way more fun when it's hot out! I was whipping around the big open part of the lake, which normally I'd have to carefully navigate. The ride was smooth as silk-- usually I'm bouncing over bone-rattling chop. I was standing up, going WOT, enjoying the wind in my face cooling me off. WOOEEE!!

Unfortunately, I only had half a tank of gas, since it was only supposed to be a test run. I stopped and tried to do a little fishing to extend the day. Nothing was biting and it was blazing hot just standing still in the sun, so I gave up on the fishing and took her back out as long as the gas lasted.

Think I'll burn a couple more vacation days this month! :)

sounds like a winner to me. i prefer sneaking off on a weekday afternoon. or going in at 1:00 PM after the "doctors appointment".

I've been out twice so far in my new to me boat and both times I waited till after the weekend. Much Nicer when no one is at the ramps, or ICW in the way, no jet skiers etc. My wife and I enjoy the non populated times. First time out was 6pm, even better- not as hot and different perspective on scenery.

Now if I can figure out how to find places to eat that on the water on ICW to dock at near us.

Glad You had fun, it's what boating is all about!!!

We enjoyed Labor Day weekend on the water.......................though there were noticeably less boaters out it was still choppy at times........................I guess I'm a little different than most boaters here though...........................I don't mind a lot of boaters enjoying the lake at the same time.............................when it gets busy we just find a cove, raft up with a few friends, enjoy the sun, water and company...........................................course there is something to be said for cruising a glass topped lake with out another boater in sight...........:):)
