Hey guys, while doing a spark plug change I noticed carbon on top of the pistons of my F115. I read through the procedure in the FAQs here: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=158076 but am not sure if that applies to my engine and there are 2 different procedures by guys I am not familiar with.

Also did an advanced search of "carbon" with "rodbolt" as the author hoping that he had the procedure in one of his posts but no luck ;) I did find a post where he said it is easy to do but you need to remove some type of vacuum lines.

I would appreciate it if someone could post the proper procedure for an 02 F115 Yammie or tell me where to find it. I bought a bottle of seafoam at the auto parts store and plan to start running ringfree in my tank after I get rid of the carbon that is already there. I just don't want to mess anything up in the process.

I bought this boat used and it was under propped so I am guessing that's where the carbon came from. I propped it to run 6000 rpms and installed a 10 micron filter per advice from this board and haven't had any trouble since but I want to stay on top of things. Thanks for any help.

Re: De-carbon F115

I think I would use the Ring-Free. If you look at the container you will see there is a preventive maintenance quantity and a larger quantity (I believe it is 12 oz for 6 gallons of fuel). I would run the larger quantity for the number of hours specified. I think you will be fine with this approach as opposed to removing all of it at one time.
