Having troubles with an early 70's model Chysler outboard. It is a 130 horse 72 model. The number 1 cylinder only has 25 pounds of compression. I pulled the head off. cylinder scored very bad and pistion is very loose in the cylinder. 2,3,&4 cylinders all have 129 to 132 pounds of compression. This motor has never been apart. Very clean and no other problems. What is advice? Is there pistions avalible? How much would it cost to rebuild this? I have worked on several car engines. Have rebuilt several of them but I have never touched an outboard. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Dead cylinder 130 Chrysler

Assuming that you would rebuild all cylinders and not cut corners, maybe 700-800 in parts, plus shop time to have the cylinders done.

If you take it in to a shop, expect $1600-$2500 to do the job.

Maybe someone else here can be more specific.
