Dead - Impossible to start

Hi,

I was out last night on the ocean without any problems. Came back and had the engine on for like 10 more minutes while checking the power steering fluid. Added a little and had the engine running like 2000-2500 RPM while turning the steering wheel to the full left/ right. Suddenly the engine died - Like power is taken away - Impossible to restart. Checked main breakers/ fuses but they seem intact/ not blown.

When turning the ignition key absolutely nothing happens ....- I cannot hear the fuel pumps or anything else clicking. Any idea what can be wrong ? - Can it be a defective starter relay ..... The engine is a VP 5.7 GSI (model WT from 99) - TBI.

Any idea how I can wake up my boat again. Your help is greatly appreciated.

What preliminary checks have you done? Checked voltage at the starter (where the main supply cable comes int)? Checked ground cables are clean and tight? Checked for voltage on the power side of the key? Checked that the battery cables are clean and tight? When you turn the key to ON, do you have instruments?

I did not do much last night as it was getting dark. Anyway let me check the items you suggest and I will revert.

Follow the tree and you will find the problem. But do the whole tree don't skip around.

Don't forget to check the lanyard kill switch.

Just like you all suggested ... The lanyard switch was the problem. It is now fixed and engine is running smoothly. Looking forward to the weekend. Thanks for the help!
