Deaf boater can't hear engine gauges' warning signalers

Hey all,

I am a deaf person myself as I stated in the thread title.. I can't hear the gauges warning signalers where they beep noises at you. I would like to know if I can rig up something to flash light at me in the driver's cockpit area should any of my boat engine gauges go afoul meaning possible engine trouble?

Do I make some jumper wires from the beeper source (a speaker?) to a light source of whatever kind that I can add onto the boat? Would that work?

I know I can always pay an extra attention to the gauge cluster, but then at the same time I don't want to be glued to it all day long being "paranoid". There are prettier things to see out there than the gauge cluster not to mention the safety of paying attention to your driving on the water.

However, I do want to be warned of something going wrong ahead of time or during the arising problem, rather than before I see it a little bit too late. Like something is happening in between my frequent glace-downs to the gauge cluster. I am going through a repower deal on my boat, so I want to stay on top of everything where possible this time around.

What do you all think?

Thanks, Norm

That's an easy fix. Just locate the buzzer under the dash and replace it with your light of choice (within reason of course). Mount it where you want.

With some relays, we could even do one of these

to get your attention

LMAO!

That would most definitely grab my attention right onto the gauge cluster.. However, that's if you weren't being a little bit harsh and put in some Mike Tyson power behind it.. You see, a one-punch knocked out driver with an overheating and running boat would make for a worse situation..... LOL!

Thanks for the "easy-fix" suggestion! It sounds like a very straight forward thing I can do. It is something I think I should tackle on once I am done with doing the repower for my boat.
