Hello, I have decided to put my 67 Glastron out to pasture and am looking for a newer bowrider. I have looked online at various sites and am now looking at a boat locally for sale. It is an 88 (still old I know) Citation 175 with a Volvo I/O which I believe is a 130 hp model. The boat is in good shape and has a very nice trailer with it. The floor seems very solid, while it has been kept under a carport it has not had a cover on it and it has sat for a while. The seats are really dirty as is the carpet, but they don't appear stained. I plan to take it out to the lake to see if it runs nice next week. Right now the guy wants $2800 for it. Does this seem high? Most of the boats I look at online are a little newer but are usually around $4000. The first price fits my budget a lot better. Any input on the price or your experience with Citation boats and Volvo I/O's would be helpful. I hate to buy a known industry lemon. Thanks

That's a fair price provided there are no issues.
Volvo has a good reputation but parts are expensive.
Can't speak personally about Citation although I see quite a few floating around the river.

Seems a little high for a 20 year old boat. It all depends on how well it has been maintained over the years and your location. Maintenance records for the motor and outdrive would be nice to see.

It also depends on what part of the country you're in. Here in Utah, that would be considered a pretty good deal, even for a 20 year old boat.

Thanks for the input guys. I am in NE Texas right outside of the second largest Paris in the world. I doubt the guy has any service records on the boat. He did state that the last time he took it out the boot on the drive was leaking so he had a new one put on and had the engine serviced. I don't even know what the boot thing means. As far as restoring the old boat goes I don't know. The boat does not need much, just carpet the seats are new. But the windshields are no longer transparent and the shine is gone from the fiberglass. Other than that I love the look of the retro style V176 Swinger from Glastron. A kid I know said it looked retro, I told him it was the original retro. And lastly the Johnson Golden Meteor 100 horse is giving me trouble. People I have talked to say that once that starts it is hard to make it stop. I was told to put a newer outboard on the boat, but heck I can't find a 100 hp outboard for what this guy is asking for a whole boat and trailer.
