All, 2008 5.0 MPI Merc with Bravo 3 drive. I recently developed a gear lube leak
(problem with joint located to the rear of the engine - see http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=2551548#post2551548)

Anyway, it went back to the dealer, who repaired it without pulling the drive. When picked up he told me he'd had to pull a water hose/intake? to repair the gear lube leak and then re-attach the water hose. Long story short I now have a water leak.

Had boat in water on trailer (floating) and ran for 5 minutes and noticed a steady trickle coming in from the starboard side of the boat's engine bay, pouring down into the bilge (it was not anywhere near the engine or drive_ it's coming from somewhere right in the corner - somewhere near the bilge pump outlet region). The leak wasn't noticeable once boat was launched, but the auto bilge kicked in several times, which it doesn't normally do.

I've tried climing in with torch to spot it, but can't get in that side of engine bay, and can't see from other side of engine. Can anyone suggest what might be the source of the leak? Could it be the water intake for the engine?(unfortunately dark now, so can't get picture up tonight)

Thanks

AJ

If they put a new bulkhead fitting in there and didn't use an Eclip to retain it, with grease on the new seals, that oil hose could pull it back out of the hole very easily.
I would be on the phone saying the oil leak changed into a water leak and let them fix it.
