Dealer says to change engine & Leg oil every second year. Good or bad idea?

Ok then, I don't buy fram oil filters either. Then the GM Delco filter (which your GM engine in your boat was designed to use) is also available at Wal-Mart for about $4. Come on guys, you're being ridiculous. fact is, "oil is cheaper than metal parts." CHANGE IT EVERY YEAR.

I got it. its OK to not use the recommended oil or filter, because you have done some research and believe there are cheaper alternatives, but we MUST follow the manual and change the oil and filter EVERY year even if it was only run for 3 hours. 3 hours? I probably have three hours each season on the muffs.

Actually, if you did have a supplier that had Merc oil and filter for that price, I'd change back from using Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and gear lube, that I switched to starting this season. ;)
