Actually WD-40 will dissolve most goo left behind..
There are products designed just for this as well...Most DIY centers have em'
But if you have some WD laying around (who doesn't, right?) I'd use that.

I used WD40 today to remove paint on my hands from working on my boat!

I use my wife's hand held hair dryer. Heat up the decal, pull up one corner with a sharp knife or razor balde, and pull the decal off slowly keeping the heat on it as you pull it up. WD is like duct tape. It works on everything.

Absolutely nothing works better than the tool that's designed to do the job. Go to your local automotive paint store and get a rubber decal/pinstripe eraser. Put it on a 3/8 electric drill and in just a few minutes all you'll have left of the decal is rubber eraser dust.

No, I'm not kidding.. I've tried everything in the book and this is hands down the easiest, fastest and cleanest.

By the way, nice last name, mines the Swiss German version.

Reviving a 16 yo thread. Figured there should be better ways out there. Removing the decals on my 1998 Sylvan. Got one side done yesterday. To remove the glue, acetone did nothing , mineral spirits did nothing. Gasoline did the best but a lot of rubbing. Haven’t tried anything else yet. The 3M stuff seems pricey. What have you used with good results?
Also learned a secret. Pin stripe manufacturers put tear point every foot so that no matter how much heat, pull power, angle of pull, speed of pull, or any other factor you apply you will never remove more than a foot of pinstripe before it rips!
