Decal Removal

Hellow Everyone. <br /> I bought a Boat has some very large numbers on Pilot house.I was wondering the best easyest way to remove them without damaging the boat.And also getting rid of the ghost image after taking them off.Any help on this issue would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Todd Zernick

Vinyl stick-ons?<br />On glassfibre, a hair dryer has worked for me in the past, and a mild cleaning agent to remove the tack afterwards.

Go to the auto parts store or Wallyworld and get decal remover, with the handy,dandy plastic scraper/lifter. then clean the residue off with alcohol. Not much you can do about the ghost image, either live with it or cover it up.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't know they made decal remover.I will try that,if that doesn't work I'll hunt down a heat gun.

Are the decals on gel coat or is the surface painted? If gel coat they will sometimes buff out with an agressive compound...but a lot of times the only way to really get rid of the ghost image under the decal is to wet sand it out.
