I want to get the name off of a boat that I just purchased. Is there an easy way to get the decal off. Thanks

Re: Decal

Try heating the decals up with a hairdrier. This should soften the adhesive enough to pull them off.

Re: Decal

I would take a heat gun (no, try a hair dryer first) and carefully heat as necessary till you can start pulling it off. Then, if needed, take some 'Goo-gone' or similiar to get any remaining adhesive off. Then I would use a good 3M rubbing compound (orange)on the whole side of the boat (or Transom), then a finer rubbing compound (white), the a quality boat wax,...buff till done. You'll still see a halo of the old name...with a little sunlight it should go away in a month or so. ;) Not a simple process...it is a matter of how good you want it. Have patience. :(

Re: Decal

carb cleaner will instantly dissolve the glue.
don't think it will harm the gelcoat, but make
sure to wash it off real good when done.
I used it to take off some big vinyl fake wood
stickers and it worked great/fast.
there's lot's of products to dissolve the glue.
good luck,
M.Y.

If you use something like carb cleaner - be careful...

Gasoline shot all over my boats brand decal on the transom, and I had to replace it due to discoloration.

Smog gas pumps suck!

Mark
