Does anyone have any experience with the decals from NYmarine v.s the decals from American outboard marine for the `55 evinrude fleetwin? Is there a big difference in quality and color, and i see they each offer a decal for the 7.5 that the other dosen`t. My motor is not a show piece by any means but the new paint job looks good now and i just want it to look decent when its all back together. Thanks

I've had very good luck with NYMarine, but I have not tried American Outboard yet.

The NY Marine decals are self-stick vinyl while the American Outboard ones are water transfer. The water transfer ones must be clear-coated or they will not hold up under the conditions (wet) outboard motors are subjected to. You must be careful when clear-coating - only applying a very light coat at first to keep the decals from bubbling. The vinyl is much easier to work with, and more durable. The water transfer is very thin and will tear easily and it's easy to have the material fold over on itself if you're not careful. Personally, I prefer the vinyl.
