I Rebuilt a block I had previously taken apart and stored. Its a 1984 Johnson 115 PowerHead on a 1993 mid/Lower. Hey, it got me back fishing. Actually the rebuild went nicely, I had all new parts and a new piston/ring set. Eventually I'll do the original 1993.

I'm doubling the oil, and following the OMC manual break in guidlines. At some point, or during, should I be doing a Decarb or EngineTune? This PH was cleaned by a machine shop, super clean,,I dont want it to Coke up during the double oil time.

A couple of options. Run the Bombardier XD50 oil. It has a carbon guard mixed right in the oil. Will clean as you run it. A little more pricey, but worth the peace of mind. Also, an annual decarb with Bombardier Engine Tuner is not a bad idea.

Thanks EMD....I'll look at that oil for my next trip out. So far its running nicely. I'll definetly decarb/Enginetune a couple times per year to be safe.
