I have a 1988 150 Evinrude with 2 low compression readings on cylinders. Most are 88-90 and two are 60-65. I have read before that a decarb may help. My question is can I do this on a motor stand and use a hose and muffs. The reason I ask this is I've seen to run at WOT after running for a while. Thanks in Advance.

Re: Decarb question

Don't try to run at WOT on a hose and muffs, bad bad idea. You need the resistance of the prop pushing the boat in the water to prevent over rev and run away engine.

Re: Decarb question

you can do it on muffs, it does make a mess on the ground. just let it idle for 15 minutes or so. never rev a motor above 1500 rpms, on muffs. it is best to do it on the water.
