I've got the head removed from my 92 3.0L Merc. While the head is in the shop, should I remove the carbon from the piston heads?<br /><br />Obvious next question would then be HOW?
Yes. You can use a old ring to clean out the ring grooves. For the tops, carb cleaner and a wire brush (I use a drill attachment wire brush) use lightly and do not scar up the tops of the pistons.
