Been reading posts on decarbon process for the 2 cycle. Should this also be done for 4 cycle - both marine and auto?

4 cycle motors burn straight gas. In the beginning years of emission control carbon was indeed a problem and a savy mechanic normally used water to de-carbon a motor. Todays 4 cycle motors are not as prone to carboning as the older motors.

Bob

Yes, it should be done, especially if the car or boat has significant usage (5 years or more).

I highly recommend a product called Seafoam, available at auto parts stores. It is very inexpensive, fast, and effective. Best if poured down the carb until the engine stalls.
