Decarbon 4 cycle - Boat and Auto

Been reading posts on decarbon process for the 2 cycle. Should this also be done for 4 cycle - both marine and auto?

4 cycle motors burn straight gas. In the beginning years of emission control carbon was indeed a problem and a savy mechanic normally used water to de-carbon a motor. Todays 4 cycle motors are not as prone to carboning as the older motors.<br /><br />Bob

Yes, it should be done, especially if the car or boat has significant usage (5 years or more).<br /><br />I highly recommend a product called Seafoam, available at auto parts stores. It is very inexpensive, fast, and effective. Best if poured down the carb until the engine stalls.
