Re: Decarbonizing

I guess I can get seafoam at NAPA.

Should i put the Seafoam in the cylinders through the spark plug holes? How long should I let it sit?

If I put it in the fuel tank, will the engine smoke like crazy for the entire tank of fuel?

Re: Decarbonizing

You can let it soak as long as you want...

After loading up the cylinders, I would let it sit overnight...

Re: Decarbonizing

Fogging is done as preparation for storage. Decarbonizing is done to remove deposits from the engine to reduce detonation, increase power, and make the engine run at its peak.

Re: Decarbonizing

I had my motor "decarbed" by a repair place last fall. This summer, I now constantly am putting out smoke from around the prop area. I have 20 engine hours in this summer, automatic oil feeder, was really really hard to start first time out, fine now. Any suggestions?
Fishsniper
Re: Decarbonizing

Other info:
-This picture is at idle
-40hp 1998-9ish motor
-2 stroke (in case you couldn't guess)
-used to do the typical 2 stroke smoke- a little at startup and was fine after that. Smokes like this all the time now.
-oil is same as before it smoked (half walmart tech stuff and half oem.)
-There is enough stabil to treat 3 of the 6 gallons of gas.

Re: Decarbonizing

Mine smokes like that to, i think it's something to do with the 2 stroke oil, we got some cheap stuff named "Duckhams" rather than the TCW3 (or whatever it is called) stuff, because we needed fuel ready to go in a hurry, and had nothing else around.
