Hi Gang,

I'm looking for a 12-15 passenger used deck boat for cruising and tubing with the family. How powerful of an engine do I need to pull a tuber with a full boat? Is a 5.0 220hp enough?

This forum has been a great resource so far. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

I have a 20'-1" LARSON 204 Escape deck boat with a 220 hp V-8 engine. I pull a tube all of the tie with no problem. ;)

We have been looking at boats...generally, you need at least 22 ft to get 12 people...26ft to get more. The 220hp will be working very hard in this scenario(size of boat and number of people). We have noticed a big difference in the 5.0 engines and the 5.7(300 hp). We do not want to get an under-powered boat.

Hope this helps.
