I am replacing the deck and will be using two layers of bi-axial cloth with mat sewn on, on top of plywood. What would be the best way to lay the cloth, mat or cloth side down on the plywood and the second layer the same as the first?

Re: Deck replacement

I'm not sure if it really matters......
But,
I Think you'll get a Smoother surface if the Mat is Up.........
It'll help loose the Cloth Print thru.....

If you are carpeting the boat it does not matter. If you are applying a textured surface, mat side up will probably be fine, although it still does not matter much, as the texture would hide the cloth weave. Just make sure in your layers you are laying cloth to mat, not cloth to cloth. I am not sure why, that is just what I have always been told. Gives a stronger layup I assume.
