Deck water running into bilges

Hi,
I have an ongoing issue of deck run off going into the outer bilges under the engines.
There are no bilge pumps in this area (something to do with being green).
I am looking to run lines from the drains out through the hull rather than into the central bilge. Anybody tried this on a Doral? Where did you run the lines to?

I finished up running longer lines into the main bilge near the pump.
I gather from the responses you are all more concerned with ice than a little water under the engines!

Re: Deck water running into bilges

I guess since I have a older boat, I don't have that problem. my bilge pump gets all the water out, there is no seperation to hold water under the engines. I do have a problem with when I wash the deck water getting in the bilge though. I have thought of putting a rubber gasket on the engine compartment hatches to maybe seal it up. Some water drains out the drains in the channel where the hatchs sit, but some goes in the bilge, enough to turn on the auto bilge pump.

Not sure when these green regulations came in. My outer bilges do not run to the central bilge until they overflow.
I understand the reasoning, just not the failure to take deck water into account when making the change at a manufacturing level.
I have replaced my after market fishing rod holders with units that have a seal so the water ingress has slowed a little.
I thought about addressing the engine cover seal issue, might have another look this winter.

I'll post if I come up with a solution on the engine cover seals.
