Good afternoon Guys,
Nice site.
I live in the Chesapeake Bay area and just recently acquired a 21' Starcraft, Super Sport. Its a walk thru, bow rider.
In my opinion, the boat is set up really nice for skiing but I don't ski. I fish.
I'd like to remove the carpet and spray / roll a textured floor, something along the lines of Rhino liner so that it can be hosed down. I would like to line the intire interior in this way.
Has anyone does something similair?
I would also like to put some kind of deck over where the bench style seating is in the bow so that it would be one large, raised casting deck but I'm concerned about the weight in the bow making it hard to get on plane.
Do you think that adding the additional plywood would be too much weight?
Is there a better material to use.
I will be needing a lot of information as I start this project and I appreciate any input.

Re: Decking Questions

sure it is done all the time. mount a piece of ply on the bow, cut hatches so you can utilize the storage space below. the leg area makes a good place for a cooler, i use to keep life jacket in a cooler under there. bed liner, grizzly grip, and many other products can be used for the deck. paint with a sand mix.

Re: Decking Questions

Thanks tashsdaddy,
I should have mentioned it's powered with a 70 hp Johnson.
For those of you familiar with the Starcraft, the interior sides of what I can only describe as "wall paper". It's factory.
I need some suggestions on removing it, or maybe I need to replace the material it's attached to all together. Maybe tear it all out and replace with some kind of plywood also?
My goal is functionality and cleanliness. I'd like to be able to hose the entire interior down at the end of the day.

Re: Decking Questions

td is a mod here and really busy....its unusaual that he has time to walk you thru stuff.....however...some times he can.

may i suggest to read the compleated projects forum. there is several examples of what you want to do....lunds alum fishing boat is a great example.....(even tho its not an open bow galss boat).

the project you are talking about is an easy one. standard grade exterior ply wood fiberglass encased cut to fit with openings for your storage and stuff.

the deck lining is easy......just hit search....you could be done in a weekend or two.

cheers

Re: Decking Questions

oh.....and as far as the vinal wallpaper.....start ripping or use a grinder with a rubber back sanding pad and an 80 grit paper.....just remember....you will have to replace it with somthing......and its the lightest of all the possibilities.

(however....overall....weight wont be a factor in this renovation)
