Are coated deck fasteners okay to use to fasten wood decking down ? I have alum pop rivots to anchor to alum stringers, but up front on the deck, there is some wood framing to attach to. I have several boxes of these coated screws lying around leftover from the deck on my house, and would like to use them if I can. However, I will go get stainless if thats what the general consesus ends up being. Thanks for any input.

Re: Decking screws.

As long as you predrill and then coat the screws and the holes with some 5 minuted epoxy you'll be fine.

I like using the epoxy. Less expensive, less messy, easier cleanup. Just as effective. JMHO!!!
