Got me an everstart 105amp/hr battery from walmart. i put it on a charger and after a few hours, charger says complete. Took it off charger for a few hrs and decided to plug it back on charger and see what it says. Battery has been sitting on charger for like 2 hrs now and charger still says charging..

The battery can't possibly be losing that much charge in 2 hrs.. the charger i have is automatic and once fully charge, it goes into tender/maintain mode..

battery bad? took battery off charger..

volt test shows 12.8V when off charger.. and 14.8 while on charger

12.8 is full voltage. let it sit over night and test again.. I don't pretend to understand all of the newer chargers, but if the voltages are good its charged.

Re: deep cycle battery.. got a question..

How long did the battery set on Wal-mart's shelf? What is the date code stamped in the plastic or what date is on the sticker? If it set on their shelf for more than six months, it may take a few charge cycles before it will take a full charge.

Also, which charger are you using? Some of the Schumacher Ship-N-Shore chargers run an equalization charge at the end of the charge cycle even on fully charged batteries. 14.8 volts is high for a regular charge so it may be running an equalization charge cycle.
