Correct. I jumped the two terminals on top of the solenoid.

I'm STILL trying to track down the problem. I tried disconnecting the leads to the shift interrupt to see if that had any effect but no dice. I still get a single "click" when trying to start it. Typically it pops the breaker immediately after this but on a few occasions I was able to try to start it two or three times in a row with each attempt resulting in the click but eventually the breaker pops. I'm not sure it's actually popping the break though because when I press the red button it doesn't feel any different. Disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting typically resets the system. Super weird..

I'm wondering if the starter or more specifically the attached solenoid was fried? It's a brand new starter so it would be disappointing to have to replace it again but that may be what I have to do.

Something is pulling a lot of current or the breaker is weak. The breaker is 50 amp and the solenoid and motor don't draw that much unless something is shorting out. Might be the breaker but would need a test setup to verify

Good news! Replacing the 50amp breaker got me back up and running again. Wiring up the shift interrupt switch had me stumped for a while until I figured out that the terminal block I was using to connect the wires was inadvertently grounding out the connection which prevented it from firing up. Once I got rid of it and connected directly to the shift interrupt wires she fired right up. The idle is still too dang high though. Specs dictate timing should be 8 degrees BTDC but I'm wondering if I just need to adjust it a few degrees to get the idle down. I release that's not something most would advise doing though.

Problem solved. I forgot to adjust the idle screw after making adjustments to the throttle linkage. After a year of work I'm finally ready for a shakedown run!
