Have'nt lost an anchor, yet... Yet.... been cut off trolling and fishing more than a few times...

Caught a 17 foot mako once, and i don't mean a shark.... Anyone know the all tackle record for reeling in a boat? Does the IGFA even have a category for that?

My father and I were fishing in a bass derby in Sanfrancisco bay and my anchor got hung up on a 1 inch steel cable that the tug boats use for barges. Long story shory my father tells me put the boat in reverse and the anchor finally lets go of the cable. Bad news all that was left of the 28 pound striper he caught was chum. I ground it up in the prop and fouled my prop with nylon stringer. that fish would have been good for 3rd place. Oh well at least we got a date stamped picture with the digital camera when he caught it so no one thought we were full of it!

I lost my wallet in a lake when I was 19 and found it 3 years later washed up on shore about 20 feet from where I lost it. Laminated liscense was OK, the money was rotted. I didn't know i had lost it *there* and thought I just found "a wallet". Imagine my shock.

-W

Does this count, seeing an anchor rope and trying to get a free anchor, having a ski boat go by while I was pulling, kick up a nice size wake. Girlfriend dosen't warn me. The next thing I saw was lots of bubbles, had to have her drive us in while I layed in the bottom of the boat...It was cold and windy that day....And thats one i'll tell you guys....Theres 4 that i'll keep to myself till death....lol....Warren

Haven't lost an anchor yet.

I generally leave the anchor out at least once every trip though. Sure is funny watchin that anchor skip along the top of the water at 50 mph. :D

I never lost any anchors, either, but I have done this:

1. Catch a nice, big fish.
2. Put fish on stringer.
3. Tie stringer to boat & put fish in water.
4. Start motor and leave the area.
5. Remember fish on stringer.
6. Discover that stringer got caught on underwater obstruction and broke off.
7. Use very colorful language to express self.

My father-in-law makes it a point to collect anchors he finds when bass fishing. It's a hobby to him, I guess. He finds a couple every summer... Nobody in the family will need to buy an ancher for a few years now!
