just bought a Norcross depth finder. I want to put it in a 19 ft Rinker. After looking over the instructions I've got some doubts.

I want to glue the transducer to the hull because I'm afraid it wouldn't last long mounted on the transom. The instructions indicate that the unit wont work as well glued to the floor and that if the hull isn't solid fiberglass it wont work at all.

If I can get satisfactory results with it glued to the hull what type of adhesive should I use? Any other comments or tips would be appreciated.

Just curious, why don't you think it would last if it were mounted to the transom?

thanks for the input wo-max. Any special kind of epoxy?

I boat mostly on the Mississippi. It's pretty routine for the speedometer pitot to get knocked out of position when we hit submerged logs and stuff. Based on that I thought the transducer might have a rough time back there.

Lorax
The transom mounts are designed to kick up just like your Speedometer Pitot Tube.

You want a slow cure epoxy as it will give any air bubbles a longer chance to get out. Some boats have a special place made for mounting the transducer. (bass boats)

As Wo-Max said you can test it before mount with epoxy. The way I have done it is to build a little dam out of clay then put the transducer in and fill with water and go for a run.

If you decide to put it on the transom mount it to one of those plastic blocks glued to the hull so you do not need to drill any holes in transom.
