depth finder goes out with other accessories on

The depth finder in the new (old) boat I fish in will lose its screen image when I turn the other accessories on. Like the navigation light. With the depth finder on and I turn the navigation lights ob the screen just loses the image. The backlght stays on. Some of the other accessories will cause it to flicker a little more. You can still see it but it fades in and out.

All the switches are on one panel. The depth finder is Garmin 160.

What is my first step?

Check the voltage to the unit with the accessories on. Sounds like your drawing too much current and putting in an undervoltage condtion

Sounds like you have resistance at one of the connections for your main feed to your fuse panel.
