Depth Finder On 95 Four Winns

I just bought a 95 Four Winns Freedom DLX. My question is about the factory optional depth sounder. My boat has a digital type guage installed in the dash and it is made by Lowrance. It is not working and I don't know if all Four Winns just had the gauge and thire was something you bought to have it work or it needs fixed? Does anyone have this option on thire Four Winns and if so were is the transducer for it located? I would like to get it working again so anything else I need to know about this depth sounder please let me know Thanks

The thru hull transducer is found in the forward portion of the engine compartment, very difficult to get to. Also, this is a factory option.

FYI - I have seen the Four Winns depth gauges and transducers (new) on eBay on a very regular basis if you happen to need a replacement.
