IM looking for something like this. I would like it to sit in the dash. I would like to have one with temperature reading also. Any recommendations.

Re: Depth finder/ temp guage?

I have the Hawkeye model sitting on my workbench . . . bought it last year and realized it requires a hole in the hull, rather than projecting the beam thru the hull. (They have an "in-hull" model, but it does not do the temperature thing, just depth).

Anyway, my 'new' boat has a transducer that goes thru the hull (i.e. hole) . . . so maybe I'll swap it out someday and get temp and depth.

I have a Faria in-dash depth gauge that I had installed at the factory as a back-up to my fishfinder/sonar unit. It has served me well so far. They also make the same unit with air and water sensors. They are made in the U.S.A.

Here's their link if you want to know more:

And here's where you can buy it on iboats:

Ok, just got off the phone with iboat. They really couldnt help me. I thought that guage came with everything i need. It is just the guage. I need to get a transducer also. Hmmm. I tried calling Faria but no one home.

Yes, the transducer is inside the hull mounted (not sure where as it was installed when the boat was built). I frequently look to see if there is a difference in the reading between my fishfinder/sonar, which has a transom mounted transducer, and the in-dash. Rarely has there been a difference in the readings (maybe a tenth of a foot only if off at all).

Too bad about the call to Faria. I've never had to contact them, but I do like their gauges so far (Hurricane used Faria on all my gauges). I just tried them too and got a voice recording from a customer service agent. They are in CT and maybe close before 5PM EST. I noticed a .pdf Manual you can download on the web page I linked to. Maybe that document can help you answer some question until you can get to try them back.

I guess i just missed them. Closed at 5pm. 2pm my time. I just want to see if the guage comes with the transducer. From all the other guages i see form Faria it does. The iboat lady was not sure. Maybe i will call back and try a different sales rep.
