I have an older raymarine depth finder. The unit works well at low rpms (2000 or less) but does not give any readings at high)3000 0r higher rpms. Other then replacing the transducer is there any thing else to be done?

How close to the prop is it? You could try moving the transducer. Have a look while running at speed and see if the transducer is in the propwash. I had to move mine a couple times to find the "sweet spot" and it made a world of difference. Have you thought of thru-hull mounting?
Just my 2 cents. Not an expert by any means.
Dave

Like Dave said, prop or hull wash. While someone is driving your boat, look over the transome and see where the smooth water is. Meaning no white water. Hope this helps.

My boat is six years old and this problem has just developed last year. Any other suggestions?

Re: Depth finder transducer

When it comes to transducers, aiming is everything. You must make sure it is pointing straight down to achieve readings at speed. This, outside of a dirty or faulty transducer, is the only thing I can think of that would change the performance if it worked fine for years....
