Are you sure the calibration on the tach hasn't drifted? Are you sure the idle has changed or are you going by what the tach tells you?

both the tach and my clip on tach agree on the data.

Update:

Well I inspected and re-clamped all the hose connections in the motor and got back another 200rpm. I think I'll be changing out all the hoses and doing that again. Maybe I'm on to something.

Glad you found something that gave you an improvement. It's usually the simple stuff. I had to rebuild one carburetor three times before the motor would idle right. Just could not seem to get ALL the gunk out. Good luck.
