I checked everything I could think of, repaired many things, put 60+ miles on it yesterday and everything was fine.. Boss came in today and said he was going to take it to Portland (360 mile round trip) to an All Ford show. Actually the first time he has driven it more than 5 miles. Well, Its his car, and he is gone, I sure hope he makes it ok. Should be fine, but I am not sure I would have trusted it that far yet. Just because people have money dosnt mean they are too smart.

I told him to his face that I didnt think he was to smart before he left, He said, "I never ever told you I was smart, Im just Lawyer, not a brain surgeon, I know your number if I get into trouble".

Sorry, no blackmail money.

Ken, I'd have forgotten the money and held out for the secret location of his favorite fishing holes! :D

Nothing like time on the road to find the remaining bugs hiding! Sitting on the side of the road with that baby would be more fun than I've ever had driving my Ranger! Well, at least the first hour of waiting for the AAA flatbed to come get me, anyway.... :)

Man..I bought a Pantera back in '73. Went totally in debt for the thing. That solid lifter 351 clattering behind my head just about drove me nuts. Thing ran like like crazy but there was always one thing or another wrong with it. I sold it to my lawyer after about a year, who fought it for about 8 months then he sold it to a doctor friend of his who pawned it off on someone else and I lost track of it. Was the biggest most expensive POS I've ever owned...I Wish I Still Had It Now, just like MANY other cars I've owned and tossed away. Like a factory FI '57 Chevy, '70 Dodge Coronet R/T conv. with 440 6pac and 4 speed, '65 Chevelle Z-16 (375 hp 396).. and my stupidity list goes on and on. :(

OH- So he's a lawyer huh. I knew we should have given you bad advice :) Seriously I am sure that you did all that you can do to make it rodeworthy. You seem to be very intelligent when conversating about cars and such. I am also sure that he understands he's riding in a 30 year old relic that never was very dependable.

Oh, and about the blackmail money- I'll keep that private email about where you are sending the money to just us, I wont tell the others about it, you did a great job of covering that up :) :)

It can't be as bad as a Triumph TR-7 or TR-8.

I never saw one of those run for more than one week. The Spitfires were almost as bad.

The last decent Triumph was the TR-6.

DJ... I had a TR3 and a TR4 that just wouldn't quit. They were like the Energizer bunny... kept going, and going , and going...............

DJ
I can't believe your trashing Triumph's! My little 74 spitfire 1500 would go for weeks without anything being done to it. Once for 6 months! Errr nevermind, I was waiting on parts :D

ae708, sounds like youve got class though.

The only thing that is a continuing problem is the clutch, you cant put it into reverse after it warms up witjout grinding, you have to shut the car off and put it in reverse and then start it again. Im still thinking about replacing the plastic hydraulic line with braided stainless.

Class with no money... sorta like the European aristocracy I guess. As the old saying goes, champagne taste on a beer budget... that's me.
