I saw that. Can you post a pic of the anti-spray device? Obviously you can swap the motors but that's a ton of work. At that point I'd consider removing the Sea Drives and installing a dual bracket with outboards. The downside of that is, theres very little market for used Sea Drives.
DH - I can't post a picture now as the boat with the 2.0Ls & ant-spray shields is in Key Largo & I in Miami. The attached is the best I can do with the images that I have of my 1.6Ls but you may get the idea. The shields sit against the back of the transom and flush against the bottom of the SeaDrives. The bottom of the shields are a shallow V.

I agree on the work involved with the switch but should be able to do it for minimum expense.

I value your opinion and am most interested in your thoughts of the benefits of the 1990 2.0L loopers vs the 1987 1.6L crossflows. I am trying to get a sense if it is worth the effort at all - - maybe be content with what I have or the cost if I do the switch and go the way you suggest.

I think I can get the boat with the 2.0 L motors for $3.5 to $4K. My boat is paid for.
The loopers are going to have a lot more torque than your crossflows but when it's all said and done, you'll have Sea Drives. And that's like having an I/O, you can't adjust the height.

If it were me, I'd invest the 4K in a bracket (like Mike mentioned) and outboards. I know you're in a catch 22 deal but........
