I agree, Bubba. But in todays world, it's too much about the "bling". Not for everyone, of course.

Oh, Lordy - you be sure to tell your hubby from all of us knuckle-draggin' goofs that he's got a keeper! :D

Aww thanks, he treats me very well I must say. While we ended up keeping the Green Ghetto boat, he did let me go out and buy a nicer one so that I can go fishing in better style and have enough juice to pull the kids on tubes etc..cant beat that. :D

Wow, my wife came from a family so poor they didn't know where the next meal was coming from. So did I, and if not for winning a Scholarship I'd likely still be there. All she ever asked of me is: "don't drink the wages" and "don't hit me". Never ever wanted a diamond of any size (except her Grandmother's that her bastard uncle secretly sold), and never will.

When the wife and I became engaged 27 years ago she picked a very, very reasonably priced ring. Diamond was almost a fleck it seems.she had worn that ring daily for 23 years or so then one day noticed the diamond fell out. Could hardly tell.. Didn't bother her a bit.She recently purchased a ring from Avon that looks like it cost thousands but was probably only thirty dollars to replace it. She is perfectly content with it. She has friends and family that flaunt the fact of look how big mine is and "I made him buy a bigger one for me". All I can say is thank you lord. As for the fake one her friends and family see it and as far as we know cannot tell the difference, and if they can WHO CARES. I do feel sorry for the ones who have to keep up with or try to out do the others, and feel a need to flaunt it. Thats not love thats insecurity to me.
She also prefers carnations as opposed to roses, and prefers cards from the dollar store. MAN IS SHE GREAT,but must be obeyed some times.

Wasn't it Rod Stewart who said " I'm not going to bother getting married again; I'll save time by just going out and finding a woman that I don't like very much and buying her 1/2 a house...." ? ;):D

Are you ^&%$* kidding?!?!

Notice any strange behavior starting 3 or 4 years ago?

I'd wonder when you get the same pink slip she gave the ring.

What do her friends husbands actions have to do with you? You aren't them.

And of course she didn't give you a hard time about buying a boat. Especially if it, like the ring, is a status symbol in her circle.

I think you got taken to the cleaners, and your trip to the laundromat is pending.

No disrespect to your wife or your marriage, but there's a term in the vernacular for a woman you have to pay to keep around. $9,000 would probably go a LONG way.

Re: Diamond Ring Upgrade???

I look at it a different way then most. I would be upset that she wanted an upgrade. the original ring carries a significant meaning. I would totally understand her wanting another ring. my girl has all kinds of shiny things but the original ring I gave her stays where it started.
