I was talking to a guy at work last night and he told me that his mech. could not get his gear case apart to put a seal kit in so he cut the case in half...will replace the seals and weld it back togeather what do you think????

I wouldn't let that mech touch my engine telepathically.We could all get a better visual if you posted the engine in question.

No joke the kid is not to bright but he has been working on this boat for awhile and said he did not want to mess up a $55 seal kit so he took it to the shop. Was told that it will cost him about $150

Yes, that mechanic is right on. And if he works on your car engine, and the hood latch is stuck......

L J - what do you want to bet that this guy couldn't find all of the bolts to get the gearcase off (ie. the one under the trim tab)?? ;)

Hopefully this 'mech' never tries to install a fuel sending unit with that method. :eek:

I don't buy that story for a second! If I ever came across a mechanic or company that would even think of doing such a thing, I'd have no qualms about publishing his of their name. Glad I'm not wearing a chain if you get my drift.

I agree but he told me that this mech. has done this befor when he could not get the guts out of the L/U he is going to get it back this week so i will look at it and confirm the story
