Nah, it is an object of utility. Sooner or later it must've happened.

Glad things worked out. Dragging the skeg on the ramp is a rite of passage to boating. My wife and I barely survived our first loading experience.;) Every time since I've asked her if she raised the trim before pulling out of the water, but she hasn't forgotten since.

Glad to hear good things about Tahoe and Bass Pro for a change. Glad it worked out...they are nice looking boats.

Nothing like getting that first scuff out of the way.
I left my son holding my new boat next to the dock while I parked the truck.
When I came back, he had the fenders thrown into the boat, and the shiny new hull against the dock. He said he didn't want to "squish" those rubbery things.....

Glad everything's "100%" :)

I've dragged a skeg or two.. But every time I hear of a skeg drag, it reminds me when THIS guy dragged HIS skeg up the ramp- until the skeg snagged the expansion joint, leading to his winch strap breaking, and-- kerPLOP... ouch!

-- About 20 of us came to his rescue, and we had it back on the trailer within 20 minutes! Other than a scuff on the hull and some missing skeg, the Reinell came out of it just fine!

Just wait 'till next week when you forget the plug. ;) I always notice at least a couple fresh skeg marks on the concrete at the ramp. :)

Re: Did I destroy my brand new boat?!?

I was a newbie last year. In short order I forgot to put in the drain plug (thankfully the boat was still on the trailer so whipped it back up the ramp quicksticks), then I drove all the way to a lake (40 mile round trip) only to remember as we drew in to the ramp area, I'd left the life jackets in the garage! The last error, was driving to my nearest lake (16 miles round trip) and thankfully realizing whilst at the gas station gassing up the boat that the boat ignition key was still back at the house. I put it all down to senior moments!!
I now have a checklist that I go through to ensure that garage kept items are loaded into the boat before leaving. I double check I have the boat key. I have gotten into the habit of always disconnecting the battery and bringing it into the garage (to avoid battery theft). I keep the drain plug with the wrench for tightening up the battery nuts together in the 2nd, but empty battery box on board.
I am told practice makes perfect and it will get better. LOL

Glad your boat is ok, remember public ramp is what it is, you have a right to be their just like everyone else.
