One last question for the evening. :)

Did I buy the correct woven cloth for my deck?

What I ordered last year was 5 yards of 6 oz HEXCEL.

Under this will be a layer of CSM 1.5 oz to bond it to the plywood.

The deck will be topped off with blue Nautolex Marine vinyl / PVC flooring.

Last year OOPS said I'll need about 8 oz total cloth glassed to the deck ply. What I have gives me 7.5 which is close enough. Need be I can double up on the CSM, and I will probably do that in the foot rest area. There is more CSM here than I can use. (my supplier was at the end of the roll and sent me the remainder free :) ). The deck area is not large and there is no walking area in the boat except a 3 foot space between the back of the seats to the splash well.

Is 6oz. Hexel the woven I need or was it woven ROVING you guys were thinking about?

BTW, I looked over a small piece of the original deck I kept. Glastron used only one layer of WOVEN!!!! No CSM. Is that unusual?

You are going to power this boat with what outboard? And the boat is how long?

You are really doing alot of fiberglass work...... just make sure everything is sealed up. Glastron only used what was needed to get the job done and last a few years...... your boat will out live many of us.

What you plan on doing will work fine.

14 foot outboard. Rated at 50 hp but I'd eventually like to get a 55 or 60 motor. The changes I'm making turns this into a stronger hull.

No doubt about it. The transom alone covers much more area and is many, many times more stronger than the original.

be careful with over powering the boat the rating isnt just about strength, it also includes the weight factor as well. Weight ditribution is important. when it comes to small craft its even more important. I base this on previos experience with trying to go larger than rated on a boat i had once.
