Just got my carb kit from marineengine.com I called to make sure it was the correct kit and they don't think it's the right kit for my motor.

I ordered it blindly based on advice I got in my other thread.

My serial # is 25930 - 24395 according to the rep my motor is a '57 not a '58. The rep said that the part I have now(P/N 18-7222) is for a 69 evinrude)
He recommended P/N 18-7024 (doesn't have float in this kit though)

Will this kit work for me or is it missing some important pieces?

I can't open it until I know for sure that it will work for me.

Sorry man, I gave you the wrong part number. I just looked and I cannot even figure out how I came up with those numbers, particularly since you hadn't posted the model number or year of the motor. The 439074 OMC kit is listed for the big twins at maxrules.com. The 18-7024 is listed at iboats as being the correct sierra one with no float. Nearest I can figure is I read the wrong number from Laing's from the next line up, and messed up a cross-reference. That's what I get for trying to fix too many motors at once......

Oh crap! Glad I didn't open the pkg. I'll just have to order another kit and then wait for the refund on the one I just received. They charged me $10 for shipping. That's ridiculous for such a small pkg!

If you have a "co operative" dealership near, often times you'll be surprised at what they can get and negate the ship/handling charges. Gotta remember that $10 brings it to the door and someone had to handle it. In ordering stuff for older motors, I learned that it really benefits you to order as much as you can even guess you'll need as those $10 a pop add up quickly.
